Modeling, Parameter Measurement, and Control of PMSG-based Grid-connected Wind Energy Conversion System

The design of reliable controllers for wind energy conversion systems (WECSs) requires a dynamic model and accurate parameters the generator. In this paper, parameter measurement control direct-drive variable-speed WECS with permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) are presented. An experimental method is developed measuring key PMSG. measured used in controllers. generator-side converter controlled using vector scheme that maximizes power extraction under varying speeds. A predictive controller (MPC) designed grid-side voltage source (VSC) to regulate active reactive flows grid by controlling $d$ - xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$q$ -axis currents reference frame. MPC predicts future values variables takes actions based on minimum value cost functions. To comply code requirement, modified approach an LCL filter presented incorporated into system. process simple incorporates significant while avoiding iterative calculations. comparative analysis conventional L, LC, filters demonstrates effectiveness approach. proposed system simulated MATLAB/Simulink experimentally implemented laboratory dSpace digital signal processor (DSP) simulation results validate efficacy show steady-state performance
